Tim Sum Lunch at Wah Lok

Mum has always wanted to try a meal at Wah Lok. I wanted to bring her there for a meal during for Mother's Day, but it was fully booked during that period. Instead I celebrated Mother's Day with her at Wan Hao at Marriott. Both places have nice tim sum and chinese meals.

I managed to book a table for 2 on 26th June 2011 and I brought mum to Wah Lok for lunch. Check out the food we had.

Wah Lok is located on the second level within the Carlton hotel, the high ceiling of the restaurant makes the interior looks very spacious. The decor is typical of most Chinese restaurants, with a very comfy and homely feel. There are two different dining halls and can easily fill up on a normal day, which shows the popularity of the restaurant.

Banana Fritters @ $7
Cripsy on the outside and fresh banana in the inside. Sinking our teeth into the banana fritters gives the feeling of ice-cream melting inside our mouths. Delicious.

Beancurd Rolls @ $6
Both the 2 dishes were off the menus, selected from the tim sum trolleys.

Very cripsy and made from the finest ingredients

Century Egg Congee @$5
Pat's favourite congee - Century Egg. This bowl of congee is delicous. The porrige is thick and generous in its ingredients. A dish worth ordering.

Our first set of Tim Sum dishes

Baked Egg Tart @ $4
The petite baked egg tarts had smooth and eggy fillings within the puff pastry. The miniature size of the egg tart was that I had 2 of them while mum had 1 egg tart.

Steamed Crab Roe Dumpling @$5.60

Juicy and fresh, "siew mai" is a must to try for tim sum

Steamed Carrot Cake @ $4
With the sauce, the carrot cake tasted moist. However without the sauce this dish can be pretty dry. With Carrot Cake on the plate that we usually have at chinese restaurants, this dish was a steamed one. Something different. Both mum and I didn't really like this dish, hence we will remember not to order the carrot cake when we next visit Wah Loke

Prawn Dumplings

This has to be one of my favourite dish. Fried dumpling wrapped with fresh big prawns, dipped with salad sauce. Super delicious.

Steamed BBQ Pork Chee Cheung Farn @ $6.50

Mum & Pat with our desserts
We ended our tim sum lunch with desserts

Mango Pudding @$6
Mum had the mango pudding. Tried a little from her dessert. The mango pudding is thick and rich in ingredients. A bowl worth ordering

Fried Durian Ice-cream @$6
Nicely presented, this dish was unique. It was a delight tasting the fried durian ice-cream. Delicious.
Desserts of the Day

It was an enjoyable dining experience at Wah Lok. Truly authentic Cantonese food. Look forward to exploring more food places with mum.
