Level 33

On this special day, after watching the movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, we ended the day with dinner at Level 33 for our wedding anniversary. It has been ages since we dined in Level 33.  We were treated to a sumptuous spread of food in a cosy ambience. 
Winding down with a glass of beer

Appetizer : Beef Tartare - Hand-cut, nam jim, free-range egg yolk, pickled cabbage, spent grain lavosh

Free-range Australian Pork Collar complemented with Miso & Blond Lager glaze, white kimchi, roasted pear, celeriac. Very Tender and must try.

My love of seafood, I could not resist the chilled seafood platter for one pax which we both shared. The platter comprised Freshly shucked oysters, Hokkaido scallop sashimi, kingfish sashimi, ocean trout sashimi, organic mussel escabeche, poached prawn, Fremantle octopus, Yarra Valley salmon roe, blue swimmer crab rillette, housemade beer condiments, beer blinis, citrus, rye bread. My seafood craving was satisfied.

Spent Grain Banoffee Tart - Dulce de Leche, Valrhoa chocolate mousse, banana cream, dehydrated banana  (must try)

After dinner, we took a walk outdoors. The photographer in me, could not resist taking a picture of the night scene.

Gordon Grill


For our wedding anniversary on 3 January 2024, we had our lunch at Gordon Grill. For the big-on-small lunch, one had the option of the 3-course meal or 4-course meal. We both had the 3-course meal. 


Appetiser Sampler - Anthony had Chilled angel hair pasta, Sautéed snails and Pan-seared foie gras
I had the Sautéed snails and Pan-seared foie gras and Hokkaido scallop
Anthony had the soup which was Lobster bisque, while I chose the dessert 
For the mains, he had the ‘Catch of the day’, mashed potato, spinach, baked tomato and warm tomato basil vinaigrette
Australian beef tenderloin, mashed potato, broccolini, baked tomato and Périgueux sauce

Buttery pineapple crumble bars with vanilla ice cream for dessert
Desserts accompanied with coffee and tea

Wabi Sabi

We chanced upon Wabi Sabi - a Japanese inspired cafe located at Everton Park. Set in a tranquil setting, definitely a place to chill out. Here we are on 2 January, enjoying our break on the eve of our wedding anniversary. Yes, we were so exhausted after our batam trip over the weekend that we literally welcome 2024 by sleeping in. 
The name “Wabi Sabi” itself is a traditional Japanese philosophy about the appreciation of beauty in imperfection.

On the Donburi front, we have choices ranging from Mentai Karaage, Pork Katsu, Sukiyaki, Yakitori, Teriyaki Chicken, Beef Steak, Salmon Mentai, to Teriyaki Salmon.  I had the Sukiyaki Don, comprising of pork belly, onsen egg, caramelized onions, tobiko, and sukiyaki sauce.
Anthony had the Pork Katsu Sando comprising of tonkatsu, mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, and tonkotsu sauce. He also had the fries.

French Fold

The start of our wedding anniversary day on 3 January 2024 began with breakfast at French Fold located at 204 Telok Ayer Street. It was a cosy quiet place, perhaps we didn't have to fight with the working crowd at 10am for a leisurely breakfast.
