Italian Lunch at Alciani in Venice - 18 May 2011

On 18 May, we nearly missed our 12pm ferry to Venice due to traffic jam. Thankfully, we made it on time. You should have witnessed the stress on Cyril our tour guide's face. It was a beautiful ferry ride to Venice, chartered for our group. The sights along the way - awesome. If you have watched the movie The tourist, that is the beauty of Venice. Will share the story of Venice in a seperate post. Venice is lovely and romantic

Our first stop upon arrival is lunch. We headed to Alciani for lunch where it is on our own.

We ordered 2 bottled of mineral water upon arrival and waited for our food. Interesting shape of the mineral bottles. Service was slow and we had to remind them of our orders a few times.

Bread time while we waited for our food. In Italy they serve different kinds of bread, but no butter or olive oil, hence either one eats the bread as it is or if you order soup, dip the bread in the soup.

The bread on surface looks hard but it is soft in the inside.

Seafood pasta

By now, I am sure you know I love seafood. This dish was simply delicious. Priced at 17 Euro, there was prawns, mussels and squid. I was asking what was the prawn looking item with crab legs. Don't recall the answer. The meat was fresh. The pasta was nicely done, tomato based and delicious. Thumbs up for this dish.

Jenny and her meatball pasta

This has to be one of the best meatball dishes that I have tasted. It is juicy yet meatball portions are big, unlike those we see in singapore. Good choice.

Lovely presentation

Great lunch dishes priced around 17 euro each

Pat & her seafood pasta

We each paid around 21 euro each. After lunch we headed for the gondola ride and then city tour of Venice. Pity we were not given much time to explore Venice.
