Turkish Food from Cappadocia

This day at Cappadocia on 23 November 2011 has to be the highlight of the trip. The day started at 4.30am waking up to prepare for hotair balloon trip. We had to leave our hotel by 5.30am and to arrive at the place by 6am. We were treated to biscuits and hot tea.

Up, Up and Away
The weather was perfect. All of us were dressed in several layers, looking like snowman/woman. Priced at US$190, our hot air balloon adventure was certainly worth the money for that precious one hour. We were all soaked in for that 1 hour flight adventure, absorbing the sights of the lovely Cappadocia. All of us were busy taking pictures. It was not scary at all. An experience I will always remember.

Picture yourself on the magical carpet of Aladdin. Well we flew over the unique rock formations at Cappadocia, admiring the beautiful fairy chimneys from the air. Enchanted were we as we floated silently above the Cappadocian landscape dotted with villages, vineyards and fruit orchard.

Breakfast at Burcu Kaya Hotel
We proceeded back to the hotel after the hotair balloon adventure. All set for a full day of sightseeing. We departed the hotel at 9am.

We need to rest with the Carpet
Our first stop was a visit to a traditional hand made carpet factory. There we were shown how the carpets were made. Next was a display of carpets on sale. Only Leonard bought a carpet for his family. Yap, we saw the carpet when we visited his family this year during chinese new year.

Goreme Valley
This is the place where we had the opportunity to explore the rock-caved churches. Some were decorated with scratched frescos in the open-air musuem. Very beautiful.

After dinner, we headed to Uranos Restaurant for a delightful show featuring Belly and folklore dance. Leonard had his 15 min of fame of stage with the belly dancer. It was then a good nite rest after a long but fulfilling day at Cappadocia.
