Hortpark & Bistro One Zero Three - 20 March 2011

Jenny & Pat @ Visitor Centre @ Hortpark

It's nature time on Sunday, 20 March 2011. Jenny and I met in the late afternoon from Safra (Telok Blangah) and started to walk from Telok Blangah Hill Park (1.2km) to Hortpark.

HortPark is a one-stop gardening hub that brings together gardening-related, recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one big canopy in a park setting.

Pat managed to coax the doggie to take a picture - so cute

Butterfly Garden
One of the main intention was a visit to Butterfly Garden. Yet we learnt that it is only open in the morning on the last Saturday of each month. We managed to get a sneak inside. It's really small garden with lots of butterflies flying around.

Looking Radiant especially with nature & flowers
As a welcoming gateway to HortPark, Floral Walk consists of a pleasant walkaway lined with lush flowering plants. Check out the flowers that we have seen.

Surrounded by nature

After 2 hours with nature, we headed for dinner, which was a 20 min walk to Bistro One Zero.

Smartly named after the road name, 103 Pasir Panjang, Bistro One Zero Three is located by the roadside.
For a relatively small/ medium sized cafe located in this area, the menu consist mainly of western and pasta dishes. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted and led to a table upon entering the then quarter-filled cafe. The lady who issued us the menu asked us whether we would like to have some water first. We nodded our heads, as we definitely need some iced water after our nature walk.

This is the menu - time to check out the dishes

Balsamic Mushroom Salad
They have quite a wide selection of food (including salad / appetizers / main courses). We decided to get our taste buds going with Gourmet Salad by selecting the balsamic mushroom salad priced at $7.80.
Love this dish, as the sauce used brings up the taste of the salad. Great combination of mushroom and salad.

Healthy Dish

Jenny & Pat - Dinner Time

Pan Fried Norwegian Salmon Steak
This has to be one of the best Salmon dish that I have tasted so far. Along with Balsamic cherry tomatoes, mash potato and vegetable, the salmon steak was done really well. Priced at $20.90, this dish was simply delicious and value for money.

Salmon with Pasta

Jenny had the salmon with pasta. The pasta priced at $16.90 was nicely done - not too dry nor too moist.

Not a coffee drinker at night - else can't sleep

Chocolate Walnut Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6.00)
Even though we were already full, we still went ahead with the dessert. Like they always say, ‘there is always space for desserts’. The brownie was actually soft and tasty – just right. With the ice-cream, perfect combination.

We had an enjoyable evening. A cosy ambience, good service and fantastic food. Definitely will be visting the place again. Dinner only commence at 6pm onwards. Do make reservations when you dine at the restaurant in the evening.
