Turkish Food from Istanbul

I never expected to travel to Turkey, hence when Xiuling and I finally confirmed our trip, it was an adventure that I will cherish. Our flight was TK67 at 11.10pm. Suprisingly this is one of the most peaceful/smooth flight that I have taken - no turbulence at all. For most night flights, there are usually some turbulence that one has to watch the food on our trays and to sit still in our seats. I have encountered such flights on SQ planes.

We arrived at Ataturk Airport at 5.30am, two hours earlier then scheduled. We had to wait for our Turkish guide Ali, who was only due to meet us at 6.30am.

Breakfast Time - Welcome to Turkish Food

Tea with Simit

Keeping warm in the cafe

Chay Tea & Apple Tea

Donut Shaped Bread Simit
After breakfast, we proceeded on a sightseeing tour to explore the premier sights in Istanbul. Hippodrome Square was the first stop. This was the former center of supportive and political activities of Constantinople and today, not much was remained of the original building except the Egyptian Obelisk and Constantine & Serpentine Columns.

Lunch Time at Buhara Restaurant
A neat presentation and the salad was fresh and refreshing. This was the start of all the other salad dishes that were to follow for our trip.

Bloated Bread
When I see this bread it reminded me of the Country Manor bread and soup dish. As the bread is soft and lots of air within, it is just too nice to "destroy" this pretty bread. This type of bread is nice to eat, unlike those bread that are hard and dry.

Pat & Cheryl

Janice & Xiuling
This was the first time we met the sisters- Cheryl and Janice. We happened to be in the same table for dinning. We just clicked and it was great fun being with them.

Soup with Mint

Chicken Kebab with Rice

Oranges for Dessert

Turkish Desserts - extremely sweet
