Zagreb Cathedral / Cathedral of St Stephen

The Zagreb Cathedral on Kaptol is a Roman Catholic institution. Dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and to kings Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus, this is not only the tallest building in Croatia, but also the most monumental sacral building in Gothic style southeast of the Alps. The cathedral is typically Gothic. Its prominent spires are considered to be landmarks as they are visible from most parts of the city.

Church of St Francis

The backside of St. Francis and the main entrance

The church of St Franics dates from the 16th century. After the earthquake of 1880, the church was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style.
The back of the church, looking toward the main altar

The interior of the church captured my attention, especially the blue ceiling. As there was an ongoing children baptism, we could not explore much the interior of the church as much as we hope to. There were also several brightly coloured stained-glass windows.

Some of the side altars are Neo-Gothic, while on the main altar there is a fine painting of St. Francis by Celestin Medovic.

Streets of Zagreb- Upper Town

The city of Zagreb is divided into two large sectors  comprising of the old town ( Upper Town) which includes the two districts of Gradec and Kaptol, situated in the hills and the modern area ( Lower Town) on the plain.
Here we are walking along the streets of Upper Town of Zagreb

Egg Art_Zagreb

The design of the egg in Zagreb caught my attention. What is so special is that when you walk around the egg, you will discover the paintings of the four seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
