Moi Lum

The babes in white - Pat, Anastasia and Germaine

We met up on Friday, 15th July 2011 for dinner at Moi Lum. Amazing all 3 of us were in white. ( We didn't coordinate the colours). It's nice to be in the company of nice friends and great food.

Moi Lum Restaurant was founded in the 1920s by founder Mr Khong Yu Lum. The restaurant has been selling their legendary Crispy Fried Chicken 梅林烧鸡 and Golden Coin Beancurd 金钱豆腐 for the past 80 years.

Located at 38 Maxwell Road #01-01/02 at Airview Building.

In 2010, with the help of loyal customers and a strong family backing, Moi Lum Restaurant finally reopens with an expansion of the current unit and now can seat up to 160 people.

Moi Lum brings traditional food quality while keeping up with modern tastes to cater to all different walks of life. Moi Lum is where families can enjoy a leisurely lunch or where business associates can proudly bring their clients for corporate dinners in the comforts of the restaurant.

Ana selecting the dishes

Looking forward to Chinese food - Pat's favourite

The cool babe Germaine

Appetizers - $2

So addictive that we didn't know we munched the crakers away within 10 minutes,

Battered Fried Oyster - $15

This was the first time I had fried oyster and it was fantastic. Crispy layer on the outside the oyster was soft and fresh. Bit pricy for the dish though.

We also ordered the set menu for 3-4 persons priced at $60. The food was great. Yet beware of the small miscellaneous charges like towel, apetizer, rice and chrysanthemum tea which can add to the cost. Our total bill was $95.60

Crab Meat Fish Maw Soup

I have always love Fish Maw Soup. Thick and super delicious was the soup that I couldn't resist a second bowl.

Egg Tofu & mustard Leaves in Shimeiji Mushroom Sauce

This dish was ordinary. I recalled grandma cooking for the family when we were younger. The vegetable dish for the set dinner.

Majestic Cripsy Roast Chicken (Half Portion)

Germaine and I had this dish, as Ana did not eat meat. Tender and cripsy was the chicken. Nice presentation of the dish.

Sweet & Sour Garoupa

I love this dish. The sweet and sour sauce added to the flavour of the fresh garoupa.

Dessert - Mango Sago

A refreshing bowl of mango sago - icy and sweet

Overall the food at Moi Lum is good. Yet it can be quite noisy with lots of businessmen bringing their clients for meals with loud cheers of merry- making. I also find the prices a bit steep. Yet if you are into good authentic Cantonese chinese food, this is one of the places to try the food.
