Always nice to meet up with secondary school friends. It's amazing how we stay in contact all these years. Partly due to our yearly birthday celebrations. In case you are wondering why no pictures of the people, which is unlike my other blog articles, my friends are camera shy.
The birthday gal loves kang kong. Hence she ordered the large plate of vegetables. Not as spicy as what we have tasted before, the kang kong goes well with white rice.
This is delicious. The aromatic coffee smell can be sensed from a distance. The pork ribs were delicious. Yisi had 5 pieces. She was urging us to have more of the coffee pork ribs.
Pat's plate of vegetables & coffee pork ribs
Instead of our usual dunked prawns, it was my first time tasting prawns with salted egg yolk. The crispy skin and the tint of salted egg yolk added to the flavour of the prawns. I like this dish.
The gals were all set to dirty their fingers for the black pepper crabs. Sharing among the five of us, we were almost full after we had our meaty crab. Slightly spicy yet all time delicious.
I have tasted better you tiao. Somehow, I found something is lacking in this dish. Not cripsy, rather bit soggy. The sauce was nice - something like the thick rojak sauce with peanuts we usually have.
Xiuling's dessert
Our birthday girl was looking forward to having a cake, which we bought and wanted to suprise her. It's really funny hearing the cake conversation.Yet to throw her off the track, the playful bunch of us happily ordered our desserts. One should see her look when she returned to see the table displayed of our desserts and not the cake.
