Each country we visited in Croatia has its own uniqueness. In Zagreb what stood out for me has to be its sculptures. On the 2nd day in Zagreb, we visited the Upper Town. Relaxing yet beautiful place to spend our Sunday.
A bronze figure of an old lady stands at the corner of the staircase to the main open fruit market in Zagreb. Lady carries a huge basket on her head. A poem of Tin Ujević was inspiration for the sculpture. This was found at the top of left stairway to upper part of Dolac market.A pity the markets were not open that day, as it was a national day holiday.
The market is located in the city district of Gornji grad - Medveščak between Ban Josip Jelačić square , Kaptol and the Upper Town .
