Maiden Tower - Tallinn

It was a totally different experience exploring the Baltic states / Poland on a package trip. It was an enjoyable trip, if not for the fact of the change of weather and as a result was suffering from heat rash from the trip.
Here we are on 5 June on our 2nd leg on Finnair to Tallinn. I did not really enjoy the flight experience on Finnair.
Old town of Tallin

Standing by the walls

Maiden's Tower, the 14th century tower, one of the more famous of Tallinn's medieval defence towers, was recently renovated and reopened a museum, complete with an exhibition hall in its vaulted cellar. Like all package tours, we only get to see the exterior part of the tower but not the museum.

The tower was damaged during the Livonian War (1558-1583), putting an end to its military and defence functions. After World War II, one of Estonia's top architects, Karl Burman, made his home here. Thorough reconstruction was launched in 1968.
