Cafe Oliv/ Temptations

It was a busy Saturday on 30 April 2011 for both Jenny and myself. The day started with us attending a heritage trail in the morning organised by NLB. It was raining heavily on the bus but thankfully after the briefing, the weather was good to us.

In this heritage trail, we sniffed out the exciting smells and flavors of the Katong area that boastes a unique architectural heritage. Capturing the colourful charm of the area through the photos, we navigated the narrow roads and rows of Straits Chinese shop houses dating from the 1920s and 1930s.

The heritage trail ended 2 hours later. By then, it was already 12.30pm. Jenny and I were all set for lunch. We walked for a while exploring the various food places before we chanced upon Cafe Oliv. I recalled visting this place 3 years ago.

Situated on 220 East Coast Road, Cafe Oliv was cosy and had a nice ambience. As it was past the peak lunch time, there were few customers.

Welcome to Cafe Oliv

Pat and her flower - nice combination

We had good service and the staff was friendly. We were drowning ourselves with cold water, after the blazing sun from the trail.

Dill Salmon @ $14.90

I ordered the Dill Salmon. It was healthy and the dish was served well. Pan fried salmon, it came with vegetables and the sauce enhanced the taste. I had a challenging time using my knife and fork to eat the corn but I succeeded. Love the dish.

Beef Pasta @ $15.90

Jenny had the beef pasta. I had a sample from her dish. The beef was tender and well done. Together with the pasta, this dish was definitely value for money.

Pat & Jenny on a Saturday Afternoon

Being adventurous, we decided to head for another place for our desserts. There were some many desserts along the East Coast stretch. We settled for Temptations located on 91 East Coast Road. We were pleased with our selection.

Our cake selection - Cheese Carrot Slice & Chocolate Hazelnut Slice

Pat and her cake - chocolate all the way

Chocolate Hazelnut Slice @ $3.40

A sweet tooth for cakes, one can never go wrong with chocolate. There was a selection of chocolate cakes but I chose the hazelnut cake. I love my choice. The cake was soft, smooth and simply delicious. It was a steal for that reasonable price.

Cheese Carrot Slice @ $3.80

This cake is also worth a try. One of the better cheese carrot cakes that I have tasted. Moist and smooth, the cheese enhanced the taste of the carrot cake.

All ready for my cake
