Sunday Brunch at Fremantle

Pat & Peichin at Fremantle for Sunday Brunch

Taking a breather and having a relaxing meal in Fremantle Seafood Market, that was where Pei Chin and I were on Sunday, 29th May 2011. Located at Clarke Quay Blk 3E River Valley Road #01-05/06, we were there to enjoy the Sunday Brunch.

We chose alfresco dining instead of sitting indoors so that we could dine by the Singapore River.

The moment we stepped in, Mr Taufiq the Assistant Manger of Fremantle brought us around the various food stations. It was a cosy environment. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

There were the Oyster and Sashimi Station, Bread Corner, Waffle Station, Salad Bar, Fish & Meat Carving Table, Pasta Station, Stir-Fry Vegetables Station, Egg Station, Foie Gras, Fresh Juices, Dessert and Fruit Platter.

Barramundi - Delicious

The Barramundi fish is a seabass found in Asutralia. It is tasty and delicious. A must try dish.

Freshly shucked Oysters - watch the chef in action

Pasta Station - Choice of either Spaghetti Carbonara or Seafood Marinara

Just back from Italy trip, I decided to give the pasta station a miss. We saw several dinners who were queuing up for this station. From where we sat, we could sniff the pasta dishes.

Stir-Fry Vegetable Station
A mixture of Fresh Vegetables with Sambal Chili or Oyster Garlic Sauce

Well displayed, this station reminded me of the Marche station where my friends and I would queue and have our vegetables stir fried. We would try to pile the vegetables as high as we can to maximise the dish.  I had a dish of stir-fried vegetables with oyster garlic sauce.

Wagyu Beef

Wagyu meat also known as 'Kobe'-style was tender and tasty. A must try. Simply value for money.

Salad Bar
Caesar Salad or Garden Greens with a mixture of Condiments

We had a plate of salad before we proceeded to explore the seafood, meat and fish dishes.

Fish & Meat Carving Table - A Spread of Seafood

Grilled, or fried, make your selection and the chef will have the food delivered to your table. Now we know we don't have to fly to Japan. Just come to Fermantle for the wide assortment of seafood.

A wide variety of Seafood spread - Lobsters, prawns, mussels

This has to be the highlight on my end. For all seafood lovers, the freshness of the chilled seafood is just a heavenly delight. The juicy prawns, the meaty lobsters and the welcoming mussels, a station which is very popular with the diners.

Fresh Oysters - Delicious

Succulent Oysters mixed with lemons - heavenly taste. The oyster tasted fresh and they do not  have the kind of fishy seafood smell. These oysters are comparable to the ones I had Barilla Bay Oyster in Tasmania which is the best I have tasted so far.

Birthday Gift for Peichin, my good friend :)

It was also birthday celebration for my good friend Peichin. A surprise gift for her. Thanks for the friendship and may all your wishes come true. Peichin, you have been a great friend.

Cheers to a wonderful 2011

Mixed Fruit Juices

At the Juice & Smoothie Bar, we have freshly squeezed & chilled Orange, Apple, Watermelon, Pineapple and Mixed Fruit juices to quench your thirst.

Must try - Mixed Fruit Juice - truly refreshing

My plate of Wagyu Beef & Fish

Egg Station -Fresh Eggs with a Variety of Condiments cooked your favourite way

Seafood mix & Mahi fish

This dish was grilled and was served to us. The Mahi fish was slightly tough but the sauce complemented the taste.

The rich, delicious Lobster Bisque Soup

Apple Juice

I couldn't resist a second drink - this time I had apple juice. Initially when I saw it was green apply juice instead of red, I started to imagine how sour it would be. On the contrary, it was refreshing and sweet.

Foie Gras

Foie gras  is a product and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. It is a food product made of the liver of a duck or goose. Upon tasting, it gave a rich, butter and delicate flavour. It was deliciously cooked to perfection with Cranberry or Red Wine Sauce.

Our plate of fresh Salmon & Tuna Sashimi and Lobster

Fresh Shucked Oysters, Prawns, Penn Cove Mussel

Our Seafood spread
Peichin and her food

View of Singapore River

Waffle Station
Freshly made Waffles topped with Apple Jam, Chocolate or Maple Syrup

Sharing the waffles - soft and cripsy

Desert & Fruit Platter
Season Fruits with Creme Brulee, Lemon Meringue Pie, Apple Tart & Vanilla Pana Cotta

Well presented. It looked like we were having hi-tea. It was an assortment of cakes, fruit and desserts. For those with a sweet tooth, Peichin and I certaintly enjoyed our desserts.

Chinese lunch in Milan - 16 May 2011

Upon arrival in Milan on 16 May 2011, our first stop was to head for lunch. For our simply Italy trip by SA tours ( May 15-24, 2011), there were 33 of us. I must say this has to be the biggest group that I have participated for my travel tours so far. Am thankful it's a nice and fun group.

Leondoro Restaurant, otherwise known as Jin Shi in Chinese was where we had our first taste of chinese food.

Colourful and bright flower paintings

The front entrance was appealing and nicely decorated. However we were ushered to the inner dinning hall. Pretty squeezy for 3 tables. For most of us who didn't know one another on our first/second day of trip, it was a table of much silence. We were served 7 dishes and the group completed our lunch within half an hour.

Soup Dish - looks like lotus soup

Italian Egg in the chinese style

Pork Ribs - oily and burnt

The green healthy vegetables -like what we have in Singapore

Fish - we thought at first glance it resembled tofu

Fried Chicken -my fav dish for lunch, tasted more like cripsy KFC
Oranges for Vitamin C

Italian Dinner at Milan - 16 May 2011

il Salotto di Milano was the place where we had our first Italian dinner in Milan on 16 May 2011. It was highly recommended that risotto is delicious.

A cosy restaurant filled with lots of wine bottles, there is internal and external dinning for around 40 pax.

All set for dinner

Different types of bread for starters

Pat can't decide which bread to select - all look so tempting - is there butter or just plain bread?

Risotto with seafood at 16 Euro

Pipping hot seafood risotto with generous portions of mussels, prawns and squid. The Risotto is soft and buttery. Simply delicious.

Pasta with mushrooms

Looks like Singapore Mee Pok. Tried a little, slightly dry but it was very tasty. The mushrooms complimented the pasta.

Dinner Time and Jenny is busy taking food photos :)

I enjoyed the seafood Risotto, especially after climbing the 150 steps of the gothic Duomo to see the bird's eyes view. It was comforting just resting my legs and enjoying a good dinner with travel kaki Jenny. We were definitely happy with the shots we took.
