La Sagrada Familia (Exterior)

La Sagrada Familia is one of Antoni Gaudí's most famous works in Barcelona. The giant Basilica has been under construction since 1882 and is expected to be competed in 2026.

The Roman Catholic basilica is projected to be 60 meters wide and 95 meters long with the capacity to seat 13,000 people. It will comprise 18 tall towers, with a central tower representing Christ, 170 meters high above the transepts and another 17 of 100 meters or more. The 12 towers along the three facades represent the Apostles, while the remaining five represent the Virgin Mary and the four Evangelists.

There are four facades of the basilica. Nativity Façade celebrates the birth of Jesus; the Passion Façade represents the death and resurrection of Jesus; the Glory Façade represents the journey of man towards salvation and the Apse Façade is consecrated to the Virgin Mary.
