Barcelona Cathedral

Glancing at the magnificent 14th century building situated in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, this is Barcelona Cathedral. The cathedral has 28 side chapels which contain some splendid Baroque altarpieces. The church is 93 meters and 40 meters wide. The octagonal bell towers reach a height of more than 50 meters. The spire of the central tower reaches a height of 70 meters.
The cathedral is dedicated to Eulalia of Barcelona, co-patron saint of Barcelona, a young virgin who, according to Catholic tradition, suffered martyrdom during Roman times in the city.
 Interior of the Cathedral

The main entrance to the cathedral profusely decorated with statues reminded us of the porches of the great French cathedrals. The interior consists of one wide nave illuminated by large, fifteenth-century stained-glass windows.
