Towel Museum Ichihiro

At Imabari, Ehime, here we are at a towel museum of unparalleled size and splendor. The reason for having a towel museum is that Imabari has a long history of producing towels, but competition overseas has meant that ‘just towels’ are a difficult sell.

The Towel Museum Ichihiro sits in the mountains outside the city of Imabari. Building in an architectural style can best be described as “modern Japanese château”.

I was wondering about the connection between Moomin and towels, since Moomin was everywhere in the stores and the museum.  It turns out that Moomin is from Scandinavia, and that the Towel Museum is simply a Moomin licensee.
