Palau Güell

The Palau Güell in Barcelona is one of the early works of Antoni Gaudí. This is one of the most magnificent buildings of the Art Nouveau.

Located just a few steps off the Rambla. Parts of the façade of the Palau Güell resemble a Venetian palace. Be transported to the private residence of Gaudí's patron, Count Güell. The Palau Güell reopened in May 2011 after 7 years of reconstruction works.

The design of Palau Güell was based on an innovative use of traditional building techniques and the use of a variety of materials, with special emphasis on more expensive materials such as marble. Gaudí combined the typical square structure of Catalan medieval palaces and exquisite wooden coffered ceilings with innovations such as the parabolic arch.

For the interior design, Gaudi created a sense of space by using carved screens, recesses and galleries. Gaudi designed and decorated the house with impressive wrought-iron works, ceramic, wood, stained glass and stone works

The gray marble on the ground magically contrasts with the colors and shapes of the twenty-sculpture rooftop chimneys.
