Summit of Zugspitze

The Zugspitze, at 2,962 metres above sea level, is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains as well as the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the border between Germany and Austria runs over its western summit. South of the mountain is the Zugspitzplatt, a high karst plateau with numerous caves. On the flanks of the Zugspitze are three glaciers, including the two largest in Germany: the Northern Schneeferner with an area of 30.7 hectares and the Höllentalferner with an area of 24.7 hectares. The third is the Southern Schneeferner which covers 8.4 hectares.
Here we are at the summit of Zugspitze, the 4th level. As we were all dressed warm, we did not feel the cold. On the contrary it was cool and perfect to soak in such beauty. Here all of us started photos. Some of us even stood on the benches to take the shots. ( yes, I am one of them, standing of the bench).
Our pictures with our tour mates. ( Thanks Dick and Jeff for your pictures of the group).

Zugspitze- Top of Germany

This day 2 June 2012, has to be the most memorable experience for me on the trip. Imagine being top of Germany (Zugspitze) (an awesome sight, also one of the reasons why I signed up for this package), visiting Oberammergau ( seeing the beauty of frescoes) and mesmerized by my favourite castle (Linderhof Castle). You just wish time stood still for that day, so that we have more time to soak in the sights. As a photographer, it was a day of beautiful pictures and fond memories with tour mates.

Follow me on this day, as I take you first to Zugspitze - Top of Germany.Zugspitze towers almost 3,000 metres above sea level. It was a unique 360 degrees panorama with over 400 peaks in 4 countries.

Situated just 300 metres below the summit is the Zugspitze Glacier which can be conveniently reached by means of the Glacier cable car, which we boarded.

Views taken from the cable car
As the cable car ascended, it was a steep ascent to the top.
Seeing this in person, and not in a movie - Lights, Camera and Action

We went to the 4th level before viewing the 3rd level. Stay tuned to more of Zugspitze's adventures from the tour group :)

Breakfast at Koenigshof in Garmisch

On 1 June 2012, we checked in our hotel at Koenigshof located at Garmisch in Germany for 2 nights. We rested well. I love the breakfast on this trip. There was a variety and the spread of food was good. I can't help recalling my Italy breakfast spread last year, which was a far cry from this spread.
Ham, egg, bread and butter - a happy Pat
 Cereals
This is one trip where I had to avoid eating cereals as I had a bad cough and sore throat. Instead I was always on a lookout for honey for the throat. Instead this time, I opted for bowls of fruits and yogurt.
Babe in red, all set for breakfast
As one can see, Pat literally does not really eat much for breakfast. Give me eggs and I am happy. This is all I had for breakfast, no second helping.
 Eggs :)
 Our hotel for 2 nights
After breakfast, Gina and I took a walk outside to view the scenery. The cool breeze blowing past our faces  while we admired the houses and the sights. Picture Perfect and such a relaxing atmosphere.

 The morning mist
The sound of rivers gushing, taking time to smell the flowers

I recalled posting this picture on facebook and the dude in Singapore was teasing me about being a full time photographer when someone asked was I taking photos on a part time basis. Such lovely scenes, I really enjoyed the moments taking the photos.

It was time to head off for the day 4. Personally this was the highlight of my trip. Stay tuned to fine out more.

Tsukune Ichigo

Located at 399 River Valley Road, Tsukune Ichigo is a place for Asian Japanese food. Located by the road and it is possible to walk past the place without knowing it is a place that serves food. One is greeted by giant wooden doors at the entrance.I met Lynette and Angie for dinner on 11 June, 2012. Tsukune is famous for Japanese Yakitori.

 Cassis Lychee Grapefruit
Do not be deceived by the mild colour of the drink. It has alcohol in it. Refreshing drink when chilled.
Clockwise : Onsen Egg, Okonomi Yaki, Tare tsukune, Okonomi Yaki, Sasimi-Mayo mentai and sasami-ume shiso (the different kinds of yakitori)
Mix the egg with the yakitori and experience the blend of Japanese and Asian combination
 Tera Tsukune
Tender chicken and tasty with the sauce
 Sasami-ume shiso
 Sasami-mayo mentai
Looking like hotdogs, the sauce is slight spicy yet it blends well with the yakitori
This is asparagus salad, the difference is with eggs.
Angie, Pat & Lynette - the gals enjoying Japanese food
 Bukkake Udon
Japanese noodles with egg - simply delicious

2nd round of food - what a spread

 Shishito
 Cassis orange
 Ehire
Tastes like cuttlefish just that it's more delicious and very crispy and addictive
