Sigulda Castle

Sigulda Medieval castle is situated on the edge of the ancient Gauja valley on a projection formed by three steep slopes.

The original castle was built in 1207 as acastellum type fortress, later rebuilt into a convent type building. The residence of the Land Marshal of the Livonian Order  since 1432.
A deep ditch at the south side of the castle was constructed to protect the castle buildings by separating them from the rest of the land. The castle sits on a highland and is naturally protected from invaders by high, steep slopes.

 The park nearby

The castle reopened its walls to visitors in 2012 and now encourages everyone to step back in time and enjoy the surroundings that bore witness to many historical events. It is possible to climb up the North Tower, the Main Gate Tower and enjoy the medieval aura.

Turaida Stone Castle

Here we are at Turaida Stone Castle built in the 13th century by Teutonic knights. It seemed for a moment we were transported back to medieval times.

In 1214 Turaida Castle was a wooden castle, after reconstructed to stone castle. The castle now represents a museum exhibition related to the historical events of the surrounding area.

Turaida castle is the most visited one outside Riga walls. Many come to enjoy the fantastic view from the main tower, to see and hear real legend about Turaida castle.

It is nice meeting up with friends and at times being there for them. I recalled it was the month of May when I met Joyce for lunch. She came all the way to Vivo to have lunch, as I was preparing for exams, didn't want to travel too far. It was a great catch up.

Hi Tea @ Fullerton Hotel

 Pat, Mum and Linda
When I knew Linda was back in Singapore for just a visit, I was very thankful that we could squeeze in some time just to catch up with her. Linda taught me music when I was a kid. She is someone like family to both me and my mum. Always so patient and caring, I really enjoyed my music days with Linda. She has since moved to the US. We lost touch yet somehow we contacted via Facebook.
