Hahndorf

Hahndorf is a small town about 30 minutes drive out of Adelaide, South Australia.
Quaint Town-allows one to slow dow and enjoy the scenery

Here we discovered the culture of Australia's oldest German Settlement. Have a stroll under the Elm trees along the Hahndorf's main street or shop in heritage buildings for local arts and crafts or taste German delicacies.

Lovely Flowers

(This reminds me of the flower pot story at Daff class)

The lovely glasses

Shops during Xmas - decked for the season

One of the places for Wine-tasting

Sauces for cooking pasta and wine bottles

Adelaide is indeed very quiet and relaxed. Very laid back allows one to truly enjoy the slow pace. I enjoyed my trip to Adelaide in 2008.

Soup Restaurant

Pat at Soup Restaurant with mum

I brought mum to Soup Restaurant at Vivo city on Sunday 9 October 2011. It was her first time to the restaurant. It's really a joy seeing that she enjoyed the food that we had ordered.

Samsui Ginger Chicken ( $15.90)

An all time favourite of mine, Samsui Ginger Chicken is a must for me whenever I visit Soup Restaurant, unless it is a Friday, where I stay away from meat. One will dip the chicken into the Samsui sauce, then place the chicken to the lettuce with cucumber, and you are all set to have a chickenlicious experience. Mum who loves chicken rice loves this dish, and it was really fun seeing her eat the chicken with lettuce :)

Delicious Samsui Ginger Chicken

Fried Noodle with Fish Slice ( $9.50)

My favourite dish of noodle and the fish slices were fresh. Mum certaintly enjoyed this dish.

Beggar Bowl Tofu ( $7.50)

Indeed this looks like beggar bowl. The tofu were soft and the sauce was tasty. I had an enjoyable Sunday lunch with mum. Indeed I hope to take her to more new places to experience the food in Singapore.

Sizzler @ Toa Payoh

Dinner Time for Pat @ Sizzler
It was a long saturday for me on 8 Oct 2011. I had Daff class in the morning at 10am - 3pm. After that I headed down to Expo for Club Rainbow Children's Carnival. It was really lovely seeing the kids having fun. Lastly I headed to Sizzler at Toa Payoh to catch up with Damien and Eileen for Dinner. A packed yet fulfilling Saturday for me.

Salad buffet

Feeling hungry I ordered the main course which was inclusive of the salad buffet. Both Damien and Eileen had the buffet.

Clam Chowder soup

I must say Sizzler still has the best clam chowder soup among the places I have eaten in Singapore. Delicious.

Toasted Bread

Pat's plate of salad

Dory Fish with Rice

This is my main course. Dory Fish was average. The outer layer was nicely grilled and the fish was tender. However, the rice was a disappointment. It was hard and some parts of the rice was uncooked.

Pat's set of dishes for 1st round

Pat's plate of fruits

The fruits were really sweet. No wonder Damien had 3 rounds of fruits.

Eileen's Italian Dish from the buffet counter

Damien shared the plate of chips with us - nice presentation

Yoghurt for Pat - the sweet tooth babe :) Perfect finish to dinner

It was an enjoyable dinner catching up with Damien and Eileen. The salad bar buffet is not bad if you are into soup, vegetables and fruits. The price is around $20plus. Service there was average.

2D1N Soju Bang

Taste of Korean Food
Located at 44/46 Tanjong Pagar Road, the dance babes' September gathering was on 17 September 2011. That day was also Joanna's birthday and the birthday gal requested for Korean food. We arrived at 6.30pm and we saw a long queue outside the restaurant. Thankfully Cara and Joanna were already inside the restaurant.

The menu - we opted for the ala carte dishes

Korean Side Dishes

Chicken served in Korean style

Our first dish was chicken with the soup of vegetables. Stuffed in the chicken was rice. This dish was tasty, however it's really too much for 4 of us. The soup was really thick. Each of us had a minimum of two bowls and there was food remaining. We were too full already.

Our birthday gal - Happy Birthday Jo

Pork

Our second dish was pork. We were indeed shocked by the huge portion. We wanted to cancel our 3rd dish yet the salad was already prepared and served. To enjoy this dish, simply place the pork with the lettuce and mixed them with the kimchi and the sauce - Simply delicious.

Shashimi Korean Salad

Too Spicy salad was for me yet I enjoyed the Shashimi - very fresh. I had to gulp down glasses of water due to the spicy salad. Since I came back from Korean 2 years ago, I did not have korean food since then. This has to be my first korean food in Singapore. I prefer Indonesian food to Korean food.

Pat at Mac

After Dinner, Jo headed home as she wasn't feeling well. Hence Linda, Cara and myself headed to Mac at Anson Building for a drink. I had the strawberry yoghurt drink.

Beerenberg Strawberry Farm

Check out the juicy and fresh Strawberries :)
The Beerenberg Farm is an Adelaide Hills tourist attraction amongst the breweries and wineries in the German-influenced Hahndorf region. Visitors can pick their own strawberries (during the strawberry season from October to May), as well as visit the on-site jam kitchen and farm shop.

A place to purchase jams, pickles, chutneys, mustards, marinades and sauces from old Hahndof receipes.

Pat and her flowers

In the Strawberry Farm

I realised that I like the fruit and the jam. Yet if possible I will stay away from Strawberry ice cream or drink. Just not my preference.

Whispering Wall (Adelaide)

We visted Adelaide in Dec 2008. It was beautiful. Love Tasmania and Adelaide, 2 of the places which I wanted to visit in Australia and accomplished that on my travel list. I wouldn't mind visiting Tasmania again :)

Our first stop was to visit the Whispering Wall. The Whispering Wall is in fact the retaining wall of the Barossa Reservoir. Built between 1899 and 1903, the dam was a revolutionary engineering feat for its day and attracted attention from all over the world, even making its way into the pages of the journal Scientific American.

What draws visitors to the Whispering Wall is its unique acoustic effects: words whispered at one side can be clearly heard at the other, more than 100 metres away. Children in particular love visiting the wall and testing its abilities.

Harlow Can I hear you?

Besides trying out the Whispering Wall, visitors can also learn about the history of the construction of the dam, take in the scenery of the water reserve and enjoy the colours and sounds of the peaceful bush setting.

Loving the scenic setting
